OUR RECENT TRUNK SHOW OFFSHORE IN JERSEY WAS HOSTED IN A VERY UNIQUE CLUB ON THE ISLAND.
A buzzer marks the entrance to a space in the beating heart of St Helier’s historic underbelly that’s turning the traditional notion of a members’ club on its head.
A bar that everyone can come to, a space that can open with its own distinct personality and evolve into an institution. With its public bar and lounge and a private just-for-members top floor, Project 52 is a place to gather, relax and network whether you’re a member or not.
‘We always wanted to have our own pub. Not just any old place - but somewhere that would open with its own distinct personality and evolve into an institution. Places like that aren’t created overnight. They take vision, commitment and a devotion to the cause. Not to mention quite a lot of drinking. Along the way, the original founder members ran into a few people that felt the same way, and there are now 52 partner members who share our vision for a place that raises the bar for drinking institutions.’ (Founder member)
Created to be a place for like-minded people to gather, network and enjoy something a little bit different, 52’s members span a wide range of industries from finance, communications, media, design, art and architecture. The final design of the bar takes inspiration from the contemporary and industrial yet lived in aesthetics of Soho House clubs, mixing rustic concrete and scaffold features with rich oily blue and peacock green colouring, copper leafing and pre-worn wooden flooring. Familiar yet strikingly modern.
The bar and first floor lounge are public, but Project 52 members have access to the second floor private members’ lounge and screening room, as well as the opportunity to take over the bar and hold their own events for one week each year. The membership was full six weeks after opening and there’s now a waiting list for prospective new members.
Well Worth getting on the list.
